So this past weekend Makayla and I took a little vacation to Corpus while Josh worked a very long shift (6a-10p) on Saturday. The two nights before were very long as she would wake like 4-5 times during the night. We get to Corpus Thursday afternoon and spent the day just chilling. Noticed Makayla getting really sneezy and congested. Well matters only got worse. That whole “vacation” mom took the monitor at night so I could try and sleep. Well Thursday night, my poor mom was up all night with Makayla. She would wake like every 30 minutes or so until finally mom put her in the guestroom with her. Her congestion had gotten so bad, that I called a nurse hotline. They said at her age there is really nothing they can do. When we got to Corpus, the lovely City of Corpus decided to dig up within inches of my parents backyard so I think something was stired up and Makayla reacted to it.
Friday we headed to Victoria to visit Steve and Michelle and Makayla’s new cousin, Sydnee Reese.

Makayla did great the whole time there. Her newest thing is to give hugs and kisses. Well, needless to say when we took this picture Makayla was trying to give me a hug. After the picture Makayla then tried to give poor Sydnee, who was a asleep, a hug and kiss. While in the process of doing that she head-butted Sydnee. Sydnee didn’t know what happened until a couple seconds later when she started to cry.
Saturday, we just layed low because we were all so tired from Thursday night and traveling Friday.
Sunday, Makayla and I packed up and left around 9. I was not feeling good and was beyond exhausted because the whole time we were there I really couldn’t sleep because I was worried about Makayla. So an hour down the road, after crying because I was exhausted and Makayla was fussy..a state trooper decides to pull me over. I knew I wasn’t speeding, so I was pretty upset when pulled over. He came to the door and was like “The reason I pulled you over was because you didn’t get in the other lane when I was giving that car a ticket, you didn’t turn on your turn signal and you were following to close”…Ok..first of all, the crazy person who was in the fast lane decided to slow down from 75-60 once he saw the cop, and he was next to me so how was I supposed to get over…second of all, yes I was following close because he decided to go 15 below the speed limit and I was trying to go around him. The whole turn signal thing I have no reasoning for. I didn’t get a ticket but a warning. However, after that Makayla wouldn’t stop being fussy for about an hour. So I had to drive with one hand in her car seat and one on the wheel. Seriously Mr. State Trooper..there are TONS TONS of speeders on 37, so why pull me over for something so small when in the long run it made the trip more miserable. We finally arrived home safely Sunday afternoon.
Thank goodness for vacations, but hopefully the next one won’t be like this one.

Ok. So I have been told not to call Makayla’s new skill a “farting” sound but rather “raspberries” . She is completely into making raspberry noises a lot. We were on our way home from a surprise party last night, and she kept doing raspberries all the way home. Josh turned down the music, just so we could listen to her enjoy herself.

Three and a half months has gone by so fast with her, and it is amazing to see how much she changes. She started sleeping through the night about 8-9 hours at 2 months. We put her down anywhere between 8:45-9:30 depending on if she gets fussy and just wants to sleep. I think she is finally giving in to waking up early because she knows mom isn’t going to go get her if she wakes before 5:00am. Even if she wakes by 5:00, I don’t go in because she isn’t making a horrible cry like she is hungry but rather “Come get me I want to play” or “Mom, I can’t get back to sleep come help me”. Lately, when I do go in her room when she is finally awake, which has been around 6:30/7:00, I go in and peak over her crib. I say “Good Morning Makayla”, and she gets this huge smile, kicks her legs and then blows raspberries at me. Let me tell you, her raspberries can hit you in the face if you don’t watch out.

During the day we try and get out at least once if not more. We love to go visit people and hang out. Next weekend we are going to Johnson City for Josh’s family KFC (Kerr Family Campout). No, we are not camping out for two reason. 1) Makayla is way to young right now 2) I am not a fan of camping. However, I know I am going to have to give in eventually, but I am not camping in a tent. Or if I am, there better be bathrooms close by and showers that have shower curtains. I have had two bad camping experiences, which make me completely dislike camping. So, next weekend we will just take Makayla up there to finally see Josh’s side of the family.

We can’t wait to meet Makayla’s new cousins Sydnee and then my sister and brother-in-laws new baby. Sydnee will arrive around August 17 and my sister’s baby will arrive around September 17. My sister probably will not find out the gender as she already has a boy and a girl. It was a family thing this year to all get pregnant . My poor parents, but I know deep down they love it. If only we can get my sister and family to move here so all the cousins will be close and grow up together.

Makayla’s new skill

Makayla now can make a sound we make to get her to smile. It sounds like a farting sound. Last night I looked at Josh when we were eating because I heard this noise. We just laughed when we found out it was her. Pardon the naked baby and the bed pad..she was about to have a huge explosion and I didn’t want it to get all over me. It was a longer video but the computer jammed and didn’t finish uploading.

It is hard to believe how fast time goes with a baby. She is growing so much these days. She still isn’t a good napper. Some days she takes a long 1-2 hour nap, but mostly they are just 30-40 minute cat naps. She does sleep through the night and has been for about 3 weeks. Some days she wakes early at 4, so I go in there and she must think it is play time because she starts smiling at me like “Ha, I got you out of bed”. Of course she expects food when I go in there, so I feed her and put her back to bed. I don’t say one word to her the whole time so it goes pretty quick sometimes. I finally got tired of her doing this like 2-3 times in a row, so I turn off all monitors til 5am. If she wakes at 5, she normally still goes back to bed after feeding til 8ish. Her newest thing is she notices her hands and loves her hands in her mouth constantly. She even is holding and playing with toys, which she also tries to get into her mouth. HAPPY 2 MONTH BIRTHDAY

Here is a picture taken 2 months after she was born and one taken a week and a half after she was born.

We went on our first overnight trip this past weekend. The whole family was finally together in almost 2 years. I think this was the best weekend we have had in a long time. Those that have family close by you, enjoy every minute with them. We hardly get to be together a lot. It will be harder to get together now as my sister in law and sister are both due a month apart. My sister in law is due August 17 and my sister is due September 17. My sister in law is having a girl, and I think my sis is going to have hers be a surprise.

The kids in the picture are my sisters, besides Makayla of course .
